LITTLETON, CO—May 2, 2010—Jacqui Kelsen, a Realtor with the Keller Williams Park Meadows Market Center (10375 E. Park Meadows Dr.), recently earned two credentials to assist her in helping buyers and sellers with distressed real estate sales.
Kelsen has earned the nationally recognized Short Sales and Foreclosure Resource (SFR) certification from The National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) and the REO Specialist designation from the American Real Estate University (AREU).
According to a recent NAR survey, nearly one-third of all existing homes sold recently were either short sales or foreclosures. Realtors who have earned the SFR certification know how to help sellers maneuver the complexities of a short sale transaction, as well as help buyers pursue short sale and foreclosure opportunities. The SFR certification program includes training on how to quality sellers for short sales, negotiate with lenders, protect buyers and limit risk. It provides resources to help Realtors stay current on national and state-specific information as the market for these distressed properties continues to evolve. The SFR is offered to Realtors who want to help buyers and sellers navigate through these complicated transactions.
REO Specialists are required to complete an intensive course of study and pass the examination. Less than one percent of all real estate licensees have earned this recognition. REO designees are uniquely qualified to work with bank and HUD properties. Their advanced training in BPOs (Broker Price Opinion) and understanding market finance options enables them to assist both homebuyers and lenders in moving properties. In addition, they are trained to be advisors to homeowners to avoid foreclosure and stay in their homes.
“As an advocate for homeownership, I believe that any family that loses its home to foreclosure is one family too many, but unfortunately, there are situations in which people just cannot afford to keep their homes, and a foreclosure or a short sale results, said Kelsen. “While assistance with buying foreclosures is important to home buyers, sellers can also benefit when their listing agent understands the short sale process and foreclosure prevention methods.
Kelsen also has her e-PRO® Certification from NAR and has worked in real estate since 2005. She is a member of the Douglas/Elbert County Realtor Association and focuses on residential properties in DouglasCounty. Prior to becoming a Realtor, Kelsen worked in the mortgage lending business, which gives her some added knowledge when working with her clients.
