Keller Williams Turns Ronald McDonald House into Bistro for Special Evening

AURORA, CO—June 20, 2011—For more than 30 years, Ronald McDonald House® has been a loving home-away-from-home to families needing to be close to their seriously ill or injured children while they're being treated at metro area hospitals. When agents of Keller Williams Park Meadows (10375 E. Park Meadows Dr.) considered ways that they could make a difference in the community on the company’s International RED Day (Renew, Energize and Donate), this was where their hearts led them.

The office’s RED Day Committee, led by Steve and Lesli Spencer and Dawn Fabiszak, organized the effort and made it a success. More than 50 agents and vendors participated in raising $2,000 through various fundraisers, cleaning the Ronald McDonald facility from top to bottom, and planning, cooking and serving a special meal to 25 of the families currently staying there.

“We set up the dining room in a bistro-style setting and had entertainment--singing sister duo with piano, strolling troubadour in Renaissance Festival costume and a story teller,” says Steve Spencer. “Family members had a choice of home-cooked roasted chicken with gravy, meatloaf or pork tenderloin, plus several side dishes. Our volunteer ‘wait staff’ took their orders and served them, rather than having a buffet line.

“Ronald McDonald House relies on volunteers to provide meals, usually fast food, or families have to cook their own,” Spencer continues. “We wanted to prepare special food that even included a chocolate fountain for dessert. We also conducted a bingo game with prizes of gift cards from local merchants. The evening was a great success, and a day that we agents will always remember.”
