Keller Williams Agents Honor Fallen Soldiers with RED Day Project
HIGHLANDS RANCH, CO—May 26, 2011—RED (Renew, Energize and Donate) Day is an annual service initiative of Keller Williams Realty International, with each local office organizing an event in its local community. Its purpose is to show that one day can make a difference in a community.
The agents at Keller Williams in Highlands Ranch (200 W. Plaza Dr.) have several military veterans in their office so they decided they wanted to honor fallen soldiers by making upgrades and improvements to the landscaping at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver—especially the family gate area.
“In April, we held a Texas Hold-em fundraiser so we would have money to purchase the necessary plants,” explains Janice L. Schettler, one of the agents who organized the project for Keller Williams Highlands Ranch. “Then, we scheduled work sessions for agents over a time period of several weeks—completing the project on May 12, RED Day.
“We also had several sponsors--The Buzz Gentry Family, Rob Knepshield and Land Rover of Denver,” Schettler continues. “And, we owe a huge thank you to Dave Andrus of Homestyle Landscaping of Littleton. They prepared our landscape design, prepped the beds and allowed us to purchase all of the plants and materials at a significant discount. We could not have done this project without their support!
“To mark the completion of our project, we organized a special ceremony for the public, especially veterans, that included a rifle salute, taps ceremony and singing of the National Anthem,” says Schettler. “It was very moving and rewarding for all of our agents.”
